Music is an important part of our lives. So when you hear a song or hear someone singing, what's the first thing that automatically comes to your mind? Songs are personal, they're comforting - everything is different with music. Some songs can set moods for you for hours at a time, others can be infuriatingly catchy. Music not only affects people on an emotional level but also has physical effects; studies have shown that listening to music can help with depression and anxiety issues. For these reasons so many people want to create their own music - in some way shape or form. Music is created every day by people who are looking for new ways to express themselves. It takes time, patience, and dedication to perfect your music, but with hard work anything is possible. Doseone (pronounced "dose - one") is one of those people who has dedicated himself to his music. He has taken what used to be his only passion in life and made it into something more; he's gone from being a rapper who makes his own beats to producing all of his own tracks. Doseone was born on July 20, 1973 in New Haven, Connecticut. A lot of Doseone's early life was just like any other kid growing up in the suburbs. He grew up listening to everything from hip hop to punk rock, and eventually started to form his own style. After graduating high school he started out rapping but found that he wanted to make his own music so he began producing. Doseone's career as a producer and artist really took off in the late 1990s. His first project was producing an album for rapper Busdriver, "100% Major Label Beef". From there he went on to work with artists such as Aesop Rock and cLOUDDEAD (with whom he still collaborates). He also recorded his first solo album, "Split Tooth" with members of Anticon. He then moved on to producing albums for the likes of Anticon Records, Eyedea & Abilities, Zumbi, Black Sheep, Doseone's Uman, and The Bug. He also started a label called Hood Famous. In 2011 he released "The Double EP: A-Side B-Side". This is the first album he made all by himself. All five tracks were previously released EP releases or singles. Doseone has said that it's an introductory piece for people who are interested in his music to get to know his production style and what kind of music he makes. Doseone and Anticon released "Wedidit! in 2010 (which won a "Best in Class: WorldBeat" in that year's Independent Music Awards). Doseone wrote all the songs and collaborated with Anticon on the album. The album was released on tape and digitally. The collaboration between Doseone and Anticon is his most well-known so far. He also founded an label called eee label, which he still continues to be apart of to this day along with partners Masami Akita and DJ Soy Sauce. I Don't Know What It Is was released on pom pom records, and is one of the most well-known EPs ever created by Doseone. cfa1e77820
